AppShield ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile security scanner developed by ANGS. This Privacy Policy explains
how we handle information when you use our application.
Key Commitment: AppShield operates entirely on your device. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store
any personal data on external servers. All scan data stays on your phone.
1. Information We Access
AppShield accesses the following information solely on your device to provide its core security scanning
functionality:
- Installed Application List: We read the list of installed apps on your device, including app
names, package names, installation sources, installation dates, and requested permissions. This is the core
function of the app and requires the
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission.
- App Settings & Preferences: Your notification preferences (frequency, time) and scan settings
are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
- Scan Reports: Security scan results and historical reports are stored locally on your device.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- We do not access contacts, messages, call logs, or media files
- We do not access your location
- We do not access your camera or microphone
- We do not transmit any data to external servers
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
- We do not share any data with third parties
3. How We Use Information
The installed app information is used exclusively to:
- Identify which apps are installed from official stores vs. sideloaded
- Analyze app permissions to calculate a heuristic risk score
- Generate security reports with actionable recommendations
- Send local notifications based on your configured schedule
4. Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. No data is transmitted over the internet. You can
clear all stored data by:
- Clearing the app's data from Android Settings
- Uninstalling the app
5. Permissions
- QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: Required to enumerate installed applications — this is the core
functionality of AppShield.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to send scheduled security report notifications based on your
configured frequency.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Used to reschedule notifications after device restart.
6. Children's Privacy
AppShield is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are
a parent and believe your child has used this app, please contact us.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated"
date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
